Cancellation, Rescheduling & Refund Policy

Last updated: October 16, 2026

This policy applies to the treks booked on huayhuashcircuit.com. We sell and arrange your trek; on the trail it is run by a local team of guides, cooks and muleteers from Huaraz. Please read it before you book: by paying your deposit, you accept it.

1. Definitions

  • Tour start date: day 1 of the itinerary of the departure you booked.
  • Days: every deadline in this policy is counted in calendar days, in Peru time (GMT-5), unless it says business days.
  • Business days: Monday to Friday, excluding official public holidays in Peru.
  • Request hours: 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM, Peru time (GMT-5).
  • Tour price: the price published on the trek page for your departure. It does not include card or transaction fees, bank charges or currency exchange differences.

2. Price and payment fees

  • The published price does not include the card or transaction fees charged by the payment platform. They are added on top when you pay, and you see them before you confirm.
  • These fees are never refundable, whatever the reason for a cancellation or refund. The platform charges them for processing the payment and does not give them back.

3. Deposit and installments

Your spot is secured once your deposit is paid:

TrekDeposit per person
4-day Mini TrekUSD 75
8-day Alpine CircuitUSD 100
10-day Full CircuitUSD 150
  • You can pay the rest in up to 3 installments, following the payment schedule shown at checkout. The full balance must be paid by the date that schedule sets.
  • If an installment is missed and is still unpaid after we notify you, we may release your spot. That is treated as a cancellation by the traveler under section 4, counted from the day the spot is released.

4. Cancellations by the traveler

When we receive your requestRefund
30 calendar days or more before the tour start date100% of what you paid (deposit and installments), minus card fees
Less than 30 calendar days before the tour start dateNo refund

Why 30 days? Organizing a trek in Huayhuash means paying in advance the muleteers (arrieros), horses, mules, guides and cooks who will walk with your group, to secure their services for your dates. If they aren't paid ahead, they take work with other agencies, and in the busy season there is no one else to hire. Once we are less than 30 days from departure, that money has already gone to those people and we can't recover it, so we can't give it back.

  • The time that counts is when we receive your request, not when you send it. Requests that arrive outside request hours count as received at 6:00 AM the next day.
  • Bookings made less than 30 days before departure are non-refundable from the moment of booking, because the crew is paid right away.
  • Partial cancellations apply to each traveler separately: if one person in your booking cancels, the others keep their spots and their own terms.
  • Card and transaction fees are never refunded (see section 2).

5. Rescheduling

  • With 30 calendar days or more before the tour start date, you can move your booking once to another confirmed departure at no cost, subject to availability. What you have paid moves with you.
  • If the new departure has a higher price, you pay the difference. If it is lower, the difference is not refunded.
  • With less than 30 days to go, a date change can only be granted as an exception, with no obligation on our part.
  • A rescheduled booking keeps the cancellation deadline of the original departure: once that date is less than 30 days away, the booking is no longer refundable.

6. Health, fitness and altitude

  • These are high-altitude treks: the 8- and 10-day circuits cross passes above 5,000 m (16,400 ft), and the 4-day Mini Trek reaches 4,830 m (15,850 ft). Before you book, check the "Requirements & restrictions" on the trek page: a minimum age of 12, prior trekking experience, and at least 3 days of acclimatization in Huaraz, which we recommend for every trek. If you have any medical condition, please see a doctor.
  • Illness, injury or altitude sickness before the trek is treated as a regular cancellation under section 4. If you send us a medical certificate before the tour start date, we will offer you a date change, subject to availability.
  • On the trail, the guide may send down anyone who shows serious altitude sickness or puts the group at risk. Unused days, meals and transport are not refunded, and any extra cost of the descent or an evacuation is paid by the traveler.
  • We strongly recommend travel insurance that covers trip cancellation, trekking at high altitude and emergency evacuation.

7. On the trail

  • Weather, snow on the passes, river levels, decisions of the local communities or a safety call by the guide can change the route, the campsites or the order of the days, or mean skipping a pass for a safer alternative. These changes are not grounds for a refund.
  • Mountain weather changes fast, and nobody can guarantee clear views of the peaks. Clouds, rain or snow are not grounds for a refund.
  • Conduct and safety: the guide may end the trek of anyone who is intoxicated, ignores safety instructions or puts themselves or others at risk. In that case no refund applies.
  • Documents: carry your original passport during the whole trek.

8. Community entrance fees

  • The circuit crosses the land of several local communities, and each one charges an entrance fee. These fees are not included in the tour price: you pay them in cash (Peruvian soles) on the trail.
  • The current amounts are on each trek page. The communities set them and may change them; if they do, you pay the amount in force on the day.

9. Cancellations by us

  • If we cancel a departure for operational reasons, you can choose a new date at no cost or a 100% refund of what you paid.
  • If a trek can't run because of force majeure, meaning events outside our control that make it unsafe or impossible, we will offer you a new date, subject to availability, or a credit for the amount you paid, valid for 12 months on any of our treks.
  • Force majeure includes road blockades and strikes in Áncash, closures of the circuit by the local communities, landslides, heavy snow that closes the passes, natural disasters, health emergencies and government restrictions.
  • If force majeure interrupts a trek that has already started, the days already provided are not refunded.

10. How to request a cancellation or change

  • Message us on WhatsApp at +51 926 445 634 or email info@turisteando.net during request hours, with your name, departure date and trek.
  • You don't need to give a reason.
  • A request is valid only once we confirm that we received it. Keep our reply as proof.

11. Refunds: method and timing

  • Approved refunds are processed within 5 business days, to the same payment method you used, through the payment platform.
  • Depending on your bank or card, the money can take up to 15 business days to appear.
  • Refunds are made in US dollars. Fees charged by the payment platform or your bank, and currency exchange differences, are not refundable.

12. Complaints, disputes and chargebacks

  • If something went wrong, please tell us within 7 days after the trek, by WhatsApp or email. We reply within 3 business days and will look for a fair solution.
  • By booking, you agree to contact us before opening a dispute or chargeback with your bank. If a dispute is opened, we will share this policy, your booking details and our messages with the payment processor and your bank.

13. Acceptance and changes

  • By paying your deposit, you confirm that you have read and accepted this policy. A summary appears next to the booking buttons, and the full policy is always available on this page.
  • We may update this policy. Changes apply only to bookings made after they are published.
